What we collect, and why

This site collects as little as possible. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics product running on it.

Who we are

Tallis North is an operating name of 11244191 Canada Inc., a federally incorporated Canadian company operating in Ontario. For any question about this notice or about information we hold, write to contact@tallisnorth.com.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive whatever you put in that message — typically your name, your email address, your organisation, and the detail of what you are asking about. We use it to reply and to carry out any work that follows. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not sell it or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Correspondence is kept while the enquiry is active and for as long afterwards as we need it for our records and tax obligations. After that it is deleted. If you would like your correspondence deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it, subject to anything we are required to retain by law.

Information collected automatically

This site is served through Cloudflare, which records standard request information such as your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser's user-agent string. That happens for every website behind a content delivery network and it is what makes rate limiting and denial-of-service protection possible. We use it only to keep the site available and secure.

The site sets no cookies, embeds no third-party scripts, loads no third-party fonts, and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. There is nothing here that follows you to another site.

Who processes information on our behalf

Two service providers handle information for us. Cloudflare, Inc. hosts and delivers this site and routes our email. Google LLC provides the mailbox our email is delivered into. Both act on our instructions and neither is permitted to use your information for its own purposes.

Where information is held

Both providers operate globally, so information may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States. That means it can be subject to lawful access requests by authorities in those countries. We mention this because you are entitled to know it before you decide what to send us.

Your choices

Under Canadian federal privacy law you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it. Write to the address above and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may bring a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects how we treat information you have already sent us, we will tell you directly rather than quietly editing this page.
